Most claims come back over paperwork
When a file goes back and forth, it lands on your desk. We document to the standard carriers expect so your client's claim moves the first time.
You already know how this goes wrong
A contractor pulls out a wall before anyone photographs it. Nobody logs moisture readings, so there is nothing justifying eleven days of equipment. The estimate gets questioned, the adjuster asks for documentation that does not exist, and your client calls you.
That is a documentation failure, and it is avoidable.
A file your carrier can approve without a phone call
Daily moisture readings, by room
Logged every day the equipment is on site. This is what justifies the equipment line, and it is the line that gets challenged most often.
Photographs before demo
Every affected area, timestamped, before anything comes out. You cannot recreate these afterward.
A documented scope
Written in the format carriers expect to receive it, not a paragraph in an email.
Certificate of insurance
On request, every time. We carry water mitigation liability coverage that roughly twenty carriers declined to write.
IICRC certified technicians
Water Damage Restoration Technician certification. Worth asking any contractor you refer.
Something you can offer your clients
We inspect at no charge and tell a homeowner honestly whether the damage is likely to run over or under their deductible. We do not tell anyone to file. We tell them what the work costs and suggest they call you.
Some agents find it useful to have someone put eyes on a loss before a claim is opened. If that is helpful to you, send them our way.
We do not touch the claim
We do not negotiate, adjust, or represent anyone on a claim. That is the policyholder's role or a licensed public adjuster's, and it is the law in both Missouri and Kansas. We also cannot pay, waive, or discount a deductible, and neither can anyone else who offers to.
What we do is document the work thoroughly enough that the claim has what it needs. Then we stay out of it.
